Lorenzo Giannuzzi: A Visionary Leader in High-End Hospitality with a Commitment to Social Responsibility
From Forte Village to Palazzo Doglio and Palazzo Fiuggi, Lorenzo Giannuzzi has built a model of hospitality rooted in solidarity, culture, and sustainability.
In an era where global tourism faces the challenges of overtourism, the need for a new, more conscious paradigm of hospitality is becoming increasingly clear — one that is responsible, balanced, and forward-thinking. A model that harmonizes with the environment, respects the identity of each destination, and generates authentic value for local communities, while embracing a broader, international perspective.
This is the vision of Lorenzo Giannuzzi, a leader in the world of luxury hospitality, renowned for his ability to anticipate trends and transform his properties — Forte Village, Palazzo Doglio, and Palazzo Fiuggi — into integrated models of social, cultural, and environmental development, acting as true engines of change in full respect of the territories they serve.
A vision that has also earned international recognition: in 2023, Giannuzzi was invited to speak at the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network Annual Meeting in New York, sharing how Forte Village became a benchmark for excellence in sustainable tourism.
For over twenty-five years, Forte Village has stood as a tangible example of territorial responsibility, with over 82% of its staff coming from local communities, and 91% of these from southern Sardinia alone — a testament to the deep and enduring ties with the island’s socio-economic fabric.
The resort’s commitment extends far beyond employment. One of its flagship initiatives,”Un Camper per la Prevenzione”, was made possible through a fundraising campaign that raised €353,000, in collaboration with Comitato Solidale Sardegna in Rosa, Palazzo Doglio, and other partners. The mobile medical clinic, soon to be operational, will be donated to the association Abbracciamo un Sogno to provide free health screenings in Sardinia’s most remote communities.
Forte Village also supports associations such as ANIAD, AIRC, LAVS Pula, and the Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation through charity dinners, sports events, fundraising campaigns, and awareness initiatives. Recently, together with Palazzo Fiuggi, the resort contributed to UNICEF and the Community of Sant’Egidio, donating to support children affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Forte Village is deeply committed to nurturing the region’s cultural and sporting life by supporting youth clubs, educational activities, and historic events such as the Efisio Festival, a symbol of Sardinian identity. It also champions local agricultural excellence: in just one season, over 12,500 kg of fresh tomatoes were sourced from Santa Margherita di Pula producers and 30,000 kg of artisanal bread from traditional local bakeries, following a fully traceable and ethical supply model.
Forte Village has long been a pioneer in environmental sustainability. Since the 1970s, the resort has operated a rainwater harvesting system, now complemented by an 800m³/day greywater treatment plant. A new desalination plant is also being introduced, enabling the production of 600 m³ of fresh water per day from seawater, significantly enhancing the resort’s water sustainability.
Energy-wise, Forte Village plans to install 1.4 MW of solar panels by 2025 and is actively working towards eliminating plastic, promoting biodegradable materials, and optimizing waste management. The "Fishing for Litter" project, in collaboration with local fishermen, has removed 1,000 kg of marine waste between May 2022 and May 2023, helping preserve the unspoiled beauty of the Sardinian sea — part of a wider global initiative involving fishing fleets worldwide.
In Cagliari, Palazzo Doglio has spearheaded one of the city’s most significant urban regeneration projects, revitalizing a historic neighborhood and creating a vibrant community hub. Its central courtyard has become a thriving meeting place for culture and social interaction, while the restored Teatro Doglio hosts concerts, conferences, and cultural events, strengthening Cagliari’s reputation as a top MICE and cultural destination.
Palazzo Doglio is also a driving force for impactful solidarity projects. Notably, it helped raise €220,000 to purchase a mammography machine for the main oncological hospital in the Island, operational since 2022.
In Lazio, Palazzo Fiuggi has emerged as one of the world’s leading luxury wellness destinations. In a town historically devoted to health, Giannuzzi envisioned an ambitious project: transforming the traditional spa experience into a holistic, modern wellness
journey.
At its heart is the enhancement of Fiuggi’s natural heritage, with its famous healing waters now integrated into all wellness and nutritional programs, positioning the resort as a beacon of health and renewal. Thanks to this vision, Palazzo Fiuggi has become a
catalyst for the city’s renaissance, helping to re-establish it as a premier international destination for wellbeing.
In 2025, Giannuzzi was awarded honorary citizenship of Fiuggi, a tribute to his pivotal role in revitalizing the region and promoting sustainable, high-quality tourism.
Lorenzo Giannuzzi’s vision is far from complete. With Forte Village, Palazzo Doglio, and Palazzo Fiuggi, he has proven that hospitality can be a powerful force for good — generating value, culture, wellness, and inclusion.
Looking ahead, the group is already working on new social initiatives starting in 2025, focused on supporting women’s and children’s health and economically disadvantaged communities. Among these projects is the artistic transformation of pediatric hospital departments in Sardinia, creating vibrant, welcoming spaces to ease the hospital experience for young patients and their families. Additional initiatives include a fundraising campaign for an ultrasound machine for early diagnosis support, and a public awareness campaign on endometriosis, with Palazzo Doglio hosting a dedicated charity dinner and press conference.
