Porsche presents the new Panamera facelift with a real Porsche Design chronometer inside

Porsche’s sports car saloon celebrates its maturity age with a discreet visual upgrade and many technical novelties. At the top level of the collection, Porsche introduces a new Panamera Turbo S, a top-of-the-range choice of 630 CP able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,1 seconds! Watch enthusiasts have also their reason to celebrate: for the first time since launching, Panamera gets inside a real chronograph produced by Porsche Design!

Panamera has always been the four seats 911 meant to close the gap between sports cars and limousines. Of course, in the unmistakable Porsche way. The project was a dream of the Stuttgart manufacturer since the 1980s but the first series product of its kind was launched in 2009. And yes, initially people took it for an S-Class or a 7 Series before driving it and getting to understand Porsche is a Porsche no matter the choice of class. Let’s call Panamera a limousine in a class of its own.

The second generation is already three years old so Porsche launches now the new facelifted version. If it weren’t for the new bold exterior colours I would say it is a discreet design upgrade. The front and the end have modified details but for sure an amateur will not be able to make a difference. The real step up is underneath and especially at the top version: Panamera Turbo S. Those looking for the best in class performance have now the chance to order a Porsche Saloon of 630 HP which means 80 HP compared to the Panamera Turbo that is now replaced at the high end of the offer. When in Sport Mode, Turbo S accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,1 seconds and is able to achieve a top speed of 315 km/h.

The technological upgrade of the new Panamera adds also more power to the GTS version reaching now 480 HP while the starting version Panamera and Panamera 4 (all wheel drive) remain at 330 HP. More important, Porsche upgrades the suspension and all the control and chassis systems. The plug-in hybrid model – Panamera 4S E-Hybrid – has now an increased battery capacity that guarantees an all-electric range of 54 km. And this while having in mind that this specific version offers 560 HP (a bi-turbo V6 combined with an electric motor) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,7 seconds. The artificial intelligence on-board is also enhanced by the new Porsche Communication Management and many more systems making sure night rides and parking don’t take away the pleasure of driving a Porsche.

All Panamera versions can now be ordered as sports saloon but also as Sport Turismo – the shooting breaks – or with extended wheelbase – Executive. There are new colours to choose from and new 20 and 21 inches wheels. Watches enthusiasts have also their moment to celebrate. For the first time, the Sport Chrono Package includes an exclusive chronometer from Porsche Design. And in addition, Porsche Design launches the Sport Chrono collection that includes a chronograph and three-hand models with small second. All the new watches are as precise as new Panamera being powered by in-house Porsche Design movements officially certified as chronometers by the Swiss authority – COSC.
