WATCHES & WONDERS 2021: All Panerai novelties

The Italian spirit Swiss Made brand comes with original ideas and complications divided in three categories: Ecologico, Chronograph and Bronzo. Everything revolves around the iconic shape of the Luminor Marina.

Luminor Marina eSteel

Noted for being the very first model to feature the patented crown-protecting device, it has been at the forefront of the brand’s technical innovations and remains so today, becoming the first Panerai watch to feature one of the most remarkable technical achievements in the brand’s history: eSteelTM.

Composed of recycled-based material, eSteelTM is an advancement that represents a step in Panerai’s commitment to reduce the need for virgin material extraction and its associated high environmental impact.

89g of the Luminor Marina eSteelTM components are made of recycled-based materials, corresponding to the 58,4% of the total weight of the watch (that is 152,4g). Both the case and dial of Luminor Marina eSteelTM feature the new recycled-based steel alloy.

The watches are available in three dial colors: Blu Profondo, Grigio Roccia and Verde Smeraldo, the last of which is exclusive to Panerai boutiques and e-commerce. Each features a polished dial with gradient color which goes from dark to light color, with the eSteelTM logo printed on it.

Inside the 44 mm diameter eSteel case, the automatic movement has a three-day power reserve and is designed and developed entirely by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. The movement features a rapid adjustment system able to move the hour hand forward or backward in increments of one hour, independent of the minute hand.

Water-resistant to 30 bar (more than 300 meters deep), the Luminor Marina eSteelTM features a recycled textile strap that coordinates with its dial color, eSteelTM trapezoidal pin buckle, an additional strap and a storage box composed of recycled material.

Panerai Submersible eLAB-IDTM, the watch with the highest percentage of recycled- based material ever made

Submersible eLAB-IDTM is an unprecedented achievement in the history of the watch industry. A total of 98.6% of its weight comes from materials integrating a high rate of recycled elements. Its case, sandwich dial and bridges are composed of EcoTitaniumTM, a recycled titanium alloy that is a lightweight aerospace-grade metal made of more than 80% pure recycled content. Submersible eLAB-IDTM is the rst watch to use 100% recycled SuperLuminovaTM on its dial and hands and 100% recycled silicon for its movement escapement. Both are obtained through dedicated, small-scale recycling processes that reuse raw material waste. From the sapphire crystal to the gold hands, most of the major components contain recycled- based material.

Submersible eLAB-IDTM is an opportunity for the watch industry to understand that making a watch using predominantly recycled-based material is possible, thus reducing the need for virgin material extraction and its associated high environmental impact.

Panerai invites collaboration with other brands or partners eager to work toward creating a more sustainable future based on a circular use of natural resources.

Sourcing the recycled materials needed to build a watch from scratch required Panerai to establish a new supply chain. To realize the ambitious scope of the Submersible eLAB-IDTM project, Panerai challenged partners and suppliers from the watch industry and categories as diverse as aerospace and automobiles, to embark on a journey of experimentation and exploration.

Inside the 44 mm diameter case there is a Panerai automatic movement with a three days power reserve.

Luminor Chrono Monopulsante GMT Blu Notte

A new watch in a limited edition of just 200 pieces marks Panerai’s return to the eld of chronography. A powerful expression of Italian design and the innovation of the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee, the new Luminor immediately reveals its sporty attitude with a matte black ceramic case; the chronograph pusher appears on the left side to create equilibrium with the opposite crown-protecting device, which enhances its iconic silhouette. It has a powerful presence reinforced by the midnight blue dial with satiné soleil decoration and classic sandwich structure, with Arabic numerals and indexes in white Super-LumiNovaTM with green luminescence.

Inside the case, lies the P.2004 calibre that is a tribute to the first chronograph caliber created and developed entirely by Panerai Manufacture, a manually wound mechanical movement, the synthesis of that expertise, with functions that exceed the capacity of conventional chronographs. The Luminor Chrono Monopulsante GMT Blu Notte (PAM01135) is a single-button column wheel chronograph, which combines the start/stop/reset functions in a single push-piece. It is also equipped with the GMT function, allowing the home time and local time to be displayed simultaneously.

Water-resistant to 10 bar (more than 100 meters deep), the new Luminor Chrono Monopulsante GMT Blu Notte (PAM01135) stands out for a black sandblasted ceramic case in 44mm, based on Zirconium Oxide powder.

Luminor Chrono

Panerai returns to the eld of chronography with three new watches: Luminor Chrono PAM01109, PAM01218 and PAM01110. Featuring a sandwich dial and crown-protecting bridge on the right side of the dial, Panerai’s quintessential elements, the Luminor Chrono are distinguished by the original placement on the left of the chronograph controls and by the blue hands devoted to that function. Finally, a “base 1000” tachymeter scale on the prominent ange allows the calculation of average speed over a prede ned distance, in kilometers or miles.

To ensure a uni ed identity among the models, all feature the new Caliber P.9200 with chronograph function. It is an e cient, high-performance self-winding movement thanks to the 42-hour power reserve ensured by the energy stored within a single barrel.

Waterproof up to 10 bar (more than 100 meters deep), the Luminor Chrono PAM01109 and PAM01218 models feature two straps, in alligator leather and rubber, equipped with a trapezoidal pin buckle in brushed steel. The Luminor Chrono PAM01110, designed to be slim, light and ergonomic, is characterized by the folding clasp with slimmer blades and “OP” logo. Moreover, the links of the bracelet are inspired by the emblematic Panerai safety lock system. All the Luminor Chrono have the strap interchangeable system giving the client the opportunity to move from metal bracelet to alligator or calf and vice versa.

Luminor Chrono Luna Rossa

Panerai celebrates the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team with a new limited-edition model. Made in a limited edition, the Luminor Chrono Luna Rossa PAM01303 will be available in just 1000 pieces, to celebrate the passion and talent of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team.

An extension of the Luminor line dedicated to measuring precision performance, the Luminor Chrono stands apart from traditional chronographs for its placement of the start, stop and reset pushers on the left, to preserve the iconic design conferred by the crown protecting bridge on the right.

Inside the 44 mm diameter case lies the new self-winding P.9200 Calibre, a tangible manifestation of the chronograph complication. A reliable movement with a 42-hour power reserve that is delivered by the energy stored by a single barrel.

Waterproof up to 10 bar (more 100 meters), the Luminor Chrono Luna Rossa features two bi-material bracelets with a rubber structure which ensures quality and long durability, and a technical waterproof material on the surface, a solution that makes the Luna Rossa bracelets ideal for sports activities.

Also included is a tool to allow interchangeability of the straps and a screwdriver for removing the buckle. All the materials are housed in a box encased in sailcloth and signed by Panerai and Luna Rossa.

Submersible Bronzo Blu Abisso

After making its o cial debut in 2011, bronze has become an essential element in the Panerai collection and for the rst time it is the centerpiece of a 42mm Panerai model: Submersible Bronzo Blu Abisso (PAM01074).

Intended for exclusive sale at Panerai boutiques, the model is available in a limited production of only 1,000 pieces a year. The matte blue of the dial is perfectly in tune with the warm tone of the metal. A bronze which is made of pure raw materials excluding the presence of pollution or banned elements, such as lead (< 90 ppm).

The Submersible Bronzo Blu Abisso is driven by the P.900 caliber. The next-generation automatic movement is the rst of its diameter and thickness to combine the date function and a three-day power reserve. It is a caliber entirely designed and developed by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel.

Water-resistant up to 30 bar (about 300 meters deep), the Submersible Bronzo Blu Abisso features a Vintage Suede leather strap in blue with ecru stitching and a trapezoidal pin buckle in bronze. A second rubber strap, in blue, is also included, along with a screwdriver for changing and removing the buckle and a box made from recycled plastic.
