MIDO X RED BULL CLIFF DIVING Seconds of Extreme Precision
Besides what we all know as high diving competitions, Red Bull Cliff Diving represents the unconventional courage test where athletes jump in the water from unconventional high spots like bridges and buildings situated at heights of 27 meters. During their 3 seconds trip down they need to execute various moves that will determine their score but everything gets more difficult due to the untamed setup. Since the beginning in 2009, popularity has constantly grown and today you would be amazed to see the number of enthusiasts that chose to follow the various stops during the year. I personally had no idea how interesting a day spent with the cliff divers could be until I joined the event happening at Mostar in Bosnia. Here the historical connection with the idea of cliff diving makes everything even more emotional. The Mostar Bridge, initially built in 1557 and situated at a height of 24 metres, has always been a point of courage testing as young men in the village used to jump into the water since the early days of its construction. We can say that Red Bull din only to draw the international attention towards an unexplored destination but where locals were no strangers to the idea of diving.
MIDO, the Swiss watch manufacturer dating back to 1918, has arrived more recently as a partner for Red Bull Cliff diving but the collaboration grew fast and naturally. When we are referring to performant water resistant models, MIDO has all the reasons to be proud with the Ocean Star collection, where models meet performances of up to 600 meters. The timepieces have a clean design and they prove to be extremely comfortable besides being extremely reliable. Therefore, brands that share the same values tend to create strong partnerships and this is exactly why MIDO and the cliff divers match so well, especially on the wrist of Aidan Heslop, one of the competition’s youngest and most talented participants and a proud ambassador of the Ocean Star collection.
