Tissot: Together for Rugby

Tissot marks its second year of partnership with the Romanian Rugby Federation as an official timekeeper with a new 500 pieces limited edition Chronograph – ”STEJARUL DE AUR”.

Rugby has always been a special topic for Romania. And even if it’s not the most popular sport on a national level, it sure remains in history as the first sport to have had a local federation as well as to have brought an Olympic medal to Romania, in 1919. Going back to one hundred years ago, it was a noble sport by the high quality of its players and it offered to Romanians the chance to be represented at all the important international competitions held until the second World War.
The connection between Tissot and rugby started only a few years ago and now it may be seen already at major events such as 6 Nations Championship, EPCR Champions Cup and the French Top 14 Championship. This way Tissot counts as the most important watch brand to support rugby at an international level.
For Romania, the partnership was started in 2018 through Albini Prassa, Tissot importer and distributor, who’s owner – Ion Schiau – is also a great rugby fan and senior player: “The most interesting part is that no other sporting federation in Romania had ever had a brand like Tissot as partner. Also there is no other rugby team in the world to have a Tissot watch made specially for it.”
