Mihai Daniel Badea: Time Up in the Air: Feels like it’s Flying…

Time is a fundamental concept in physics and philosophy and has different meanings, depending on the context. For me time is a measure – maybe one too fast – of the events that happen in my life. And sometimes I have a need of freezing this “passing” to hold on to all important and beautiful moments.
How is the time up in the air: feels like it’s flying… But to better understand, imagine we both leave for London, you are driving, and I am flying… ? I have the advantage, of course!
Flying is the oldest dream of mankind, and it was also the hardest to achieve. Therefore, I am glad to be living in times when you can fly safely and sometimes in spectacular conditions (such as acrobatic shows or space flight). The moment I fell in love with flying: my father wearing his uniform aboard of a Boeing 707 aircraft…
Then, a flight to New York on-board the Airbus 310 aircraft piloted by the father of one of my current colleagues, and he made time and patience to explain all the wonderful details of our flight.
What do I like most about my job? A succession of moments: the moment I am putting my uniform on, the power of the engines at takeoff, the moment you feel detaching off the ground, the wonderful landscape as seen from above and, of course, the landing.
I started working for Tarom in 2009 – wow, how fast 10 years have gone – when I was accepted for the first commercial flight with ATR.
AIRBUS is a dream come true. An aircraft that perfectly combines the joy of flying and technology. I have collected 6000 hours of flying so far… and counting…
Watches: they remind us not to waste any time ? Amazing mechanisms which many times become objects of obsession and fascination due to their precision and design.
For me, a watch means moments: the first Breitling was a gift to myself when I started working for Tarom… that was a promise I made to myself while at the Aviation Academy… and I kept this promise…
Which watch do I like the most? I don’t have any favorites, but Breitling answers to a lot of my questions.
On the ground… I especially like to go home, see my family, then we decide quickly and do what we like… we do not have time to waste… ?
