Chopard – History in the making: Chopard Alpine Eagle

Chopard draws inspiration from its St. Moritz collection, originally launched back in the ’80s, to write a new story about the way a steel sports watch should look and feel like. The Alpine Eagle Collection redefines the brand’s present as seen through the eyes of no less than three consecutive Scheufele generations.

Being a witness of the decay of many family businesses or their taken over by investments funds, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele can consider himself a very happy man. He took over the Chopard brand from his father and he manages it as co-president aside his sister. Thus, he has succeeded to become a reference when talking about watches and jewelry. He had the initiative of coming closer to the car racing world by associating its name with the Mille Miglia phenomenon and he brought back to market the high horology by developing the LUC Chopard collections.
At the beginning, when he was just 22, Karl-Friedrich was just a fresh employee of the company. And since than, he felts it was time to get involved as much as possible. Therefore, in a business that only used precious stones and precious materials, he presented his father a new concept of a sports watch made of steel. The St. Moritz collection, as the ambitious Scheufele’s young man collection would be named, became immediately a symbol of Chopard. The unique design offered a particular personality for that time. And even if it was quite difficult to convince his father of the potential of a steel watch, the success of this new model would keep the St. Moritz collection in Chopard’s portfolio for many years.
